The central town of the department is Perigueux, which is a fantastic place to visit. It has a Cathedral and the ruins of a Roman Amphitheatre. Before the Romans it was held by Gallic tribes. Bergerac Bordeaux are in the region and are obviously famous for their wine producing. Sarlat-la-Caneda is also a beautiful medieval town that is well worth a visit. As well as wine, the region is also famous for producing the rather controversial pate Foie Gras.
