Prices are set to rise by thousands in October 2012 as George Osborne hits the holiday home owners industry hard!
If you are thinking about buying a static caravan or mobile home for a dream holiday home, then this might make you sit up and get things arranged as quickly as you can!
In the 2012 Budget, George Osborne has decided to put more pressure on the already struggling holiday park industry and change the VAT rules on static caravans and holiday homes for sale. As of October 2012, full 20% VAT will be due on the whole of the purchase. Until now holiday homes have only attracted VAT on removable items, fixtures and fittings. This usually worked out at about 4% of the unit price. As you can imagine this is going to have a impact on the final cost and could add thousands!
As mentioned above, this is not being imposed until October 2012 so there is time to buy your holiday home and beat the VAT increase, but manufacturers are indicating they are going to struggle with the increased demand to produce and deliver the products befroe the deadline. So if you are thinking about it, now is the time to move!
