Why buy a mobile home on camping La Sirene?
The Languedoc Roussillon region is very popular holiday destination and one of the most popular campsites or holiday parks, which ever you choose to call them, is the 5 star Camping La Sirene. I just want to delve a little deeper and see why it is so liked and manages to sell out year after year. Before looking for mobile homes for sale in France you need to decide on a campsite and before choosing a campsite you need to decide on a region.
So let’s start there…
The location, Argeles sur Mer and the surrounding area. It is easy to see the attraction to this particular area of the region. The weather speaks for itself in the south of France so I won’t bother going on about that other than to say it is hot, and there is a cooling breeze from the Med, prefect for the acres upon acres of vineyards you will find. Languedoc Roussillon is the largest wine growing region in the world, we all (well most of us) like a drop of wine. If you like expensive wine you can “fill your boots”, if you like less espensive locally produced wine you can stop off at one of the 100’s of roadside huts and fill your containers/bottles (preferably not your boots!) with the wine made by the owner of the little house next to said hut. Some of this wine is equally tasty as many of the bottles you can find on the shelves. Perfect!
Argeles sur Mer
Argeles is split into three main points of interest, Argeles Ville, Argeles Plage and the Port. Each has their own pull. The Plage is a busy and very lively “beach resort style” area with golden sands, water sports, bars and restaurants. It has a tourist market with plenty of trinkets and gifts on offer. Argeles Ville is the real side to the place, it’s where the locals spend their time sitting around in the street cafes and local bars, putting the country to rights! Argeles Port is a whole different feel again, with its hotels, port side apartments and restaurants. Each part has its own feel, some you will like more than others.
The area in general is one of great beauty. You look in one direction and see the temping blue water of the Mediterranean Sea, and look behind you and there is this great back drop of the Canigou, which signals the beginning of the Pyrenees mountain range. For the adventurous there are walks, runs, cycle routes and a whole host of adventure activities on offer. You can jump the border with ease and visit the Costa Brava or even Barcelona on a day trip. Just a few miles north you have the city of Perpignan, great for shopping and getting a little bit of real French life away from the beaches and campsites. I have written about the working fishing ville of Port Vendres before, where you can eat food straight from the sea to the plate, excellent!
At the risk of getting carried away and trying to tell you about too many different attractions to the region, let’s just say that all of the above are right on your doorstep when you own you’re a mobile home on Camping La Sirene.
Why Camping la Sirene?
Family attraction
The entertainment is second to none on La Sirene, they produce full on reproductions of popular shows like the Lion King and Greece. The facilities are superb with a fun swimming pool complex for the kids to go crazy during the hot summers days, we all know keeping them occupied is half the battle! You can learn to scuba dive, horse ride, jet ski, all with the adventure clubs the campsite runs, and there is the adventure playground for the” little monkeys” to let loose!
There is the choice of the main bar and the large terrace area, and the Pub, which turns into a disco at night for the teens and younger adults to let their hair down.
The beauty of La Sirene is in its size, because it is so big you can escape the busy areas by choosing an emplacement for your mobile home in one of the quieter areas of the park. It’s not all crazy loud tourism! Sit on your decking or lawn and enjoy a good book in peace and snooze on the sun lounger til your heart’s content! If you come and visit the park on a viewing trip you can choose from the emplecements available at the time.
Rental opportunities
A great benefit to Camping La Sirene is that you are allowed to rent your mobile home out and the campsite does not ask for any commission for the privilege, which most do!
Looking for a quieter life?
The campsite is full each and every high season, so you do have the opportunity of renting your mobile home for a few weeks when you are not using it. By doing this you can recoup some, if not all of your annual pitch rental. Some people even make a profit. We are not selling this as an investment opportunity, just pointing out a great plus point to Camping la Sirene. Most parks in the area charge 40% commission for subletting.
